Drug Screening Tests

The Benefits of Drug Screening Tests

There is a different reason why drug screening and testing activities are carried out. Some of the reasons include employability qualification, adherence to the law, and clinical application of these drugs among other reasons. However, when it comes to employment purposes, these Drug Screening activities are carried out by either 5 Panel Drug screen or 10 Panel Drug Test unit. These tests and screens can also be carried out by National Drug Screening agencies in case the employer does not have a screening unit.

On the other hand, these National Drug Screening agencies carry out these services using special software so that the results of the tests will be based on scientific proof and facts. On the other hand, a 5 Panel Drug Screen will deal with checking if an individual uses the five types of drugs they are mandated to check for while a 10 Panel Drug Screen will check for ten different drugs.

Some of the most tested or screened drugs include cocaine, amphetamine, methamphetamine, opiate, THC or marijuana, phencyclidine among others. This is because the drugs are the most abused and pose great risks and threats to users and nonusers in workplaces. The screening activities are conducted so that the employers can be able to enforce drug-free workplaces.

Undertaking Drug Screening tests in workplaces is important because employers will ensure their employees do not use illegal drugs in the workplace or even during their time off. These tests and screens may somehow cost an organization but the benefits that follow these exercises are worth the costs. Some of the advantages that come with these screens include.

1. Safe working environment.

One of the major benefits that come with these activities is the creation of a working environment that is secure for everybody. It is obvious that employees who abuse drugs pose security threats to themselves and to the others in a workplace.  In fact, if one is working in areas that are sensitive such as in a dangerous chemical firm or driving.

2. Reduction in legal liability to employers.

Drug Screening activities play very instrumental roles in making sure that employers do not face legal liabilities more so if an accident occurs. This is because in case an accident occurs as a result of employer ignorance or negligence, he or she will be held accountable. However, this is not the case if proper screening activities are conducted.

3. Reduced employee turnover and recruitment costs.

When proper Drug Screening tests are conducted even before an employee is hired, it will be easier to hire the right employees for the job. This will reduce turnover rate reducing the costs associated with recruitment and training costs. Having such employees will also improve the organization productivity making to realize more profits.
